Why Support Us
Your support empowers biodiversity and communities
Fundación Mayu Suyana works at the crossroads of science, art, and community engagement to protect insects and arthropods, key players in ecosystem health. By supporting us, you help democratize access to scientific tools and data, foster participatory research in remote and urban areas, and drive innovations that benefit both biodiversity and people.
Join us in building a future where knowledge flows freely and conservation is a shared responsibility.
About us
Fundación Mayu Suyana was created as a bridge between science, technology, art, and communities, aiming to democratize scientific knowledge and promote biodiversity conservation from an inclusive and interdisciplinary perspective.
Its name means “river of hope” in Quechua, symbolizing the flow of knowledge connecting people with nature and each other.
Vision
To become a leading institution in Latin America for the inclusion and democratization of science and technology, fostering projects that link insect and arthropod conservation with community participation, art, and technological innovation.
Mission
To promote equitable access to scientific and technological tools for biodiversity research and conservation, strengthening local and regional capacities through collaborative projects, education, and open data mobilization.
🎯 What We Do
We design and lead projects that combine science, art, education, and community action. Our key programs include:
🦋 Festival ARTropodo
An annual celebration of insects and art that brings science to life through workshops, exhibitions, and performances across Colombia.
🧬 Participatory Biodiversity Monitoring
We co-create local biomonitoring programs using tools like environmental DNA, mobile apps, and traditional ecological knowledge—empowering communities to lead the research and protect their ecosystems.
🔗 Data for Impact
We partner with national and regional institutions to mobilize biodiversity data from communities into open-access platforms like SiB Colombia and GBIF—making this information visible and useful for science and policy.
🌎 Global and Regional Collaboration
We help lead international efforts like ICO2025, ensuring that Latin American voices are heard in global biodiversity science and conservation dialogues.
